Thelma Eakley, age 88, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017. She was born on November 12, 1928 in Cave City, Arkansas to Walter and Jessie Baldridge.

Thelma worked at Hope Wire Products as bookkeeper for 25 years; Medical Park Hospital in the insurance department, and retired from TCBY of Texarkana after 16 years. Thelma always had a full coffee pot and offered something to go with it to anyone who came through her kitchen door. She enjoyed playing and winning at cards and scrabble. In addition to a fast game of badminton or croquet she loved to out-do anyone with her hula hoop. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her, called her Mom, or Grandma. The family would like to thank the tender, loving care she received at Heather Manor Nursing Home. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Hope.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Harold S. Eakley in 2008; her parents, brothers and sisters, Lawrence, Goldie, Marie, Agnes, Mable, and Beulah; infant grandson Danny Joe Eakley; daughter-in-law Sue Eakley; and son-in-law Layne Beaty.

She is survived by her children: Kelly (Reba) Eakley of Malvern; Patty (Dave) Hamilton of Princeton, Texas; and Sandy Beaty of Hope; grandchildren: Tanya (Mike) Collins of Spring Hill; Robin (Amy) Eakley of Texarkana; Wes (Ashley) Beaty of Beebe; Beth Beaty of Hope; Shelley (Dustin) Mora of Celena, Texas; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will begin at 2:00 pm in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.
