Holly Shay Woods, 6, passed away during a house fire on Friday, June 2, 2017. Her father Sheldon Woods, lost his life in the same fire in an attempt to rescue her. She was born on August 27, 2010 at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Perry to Joy Mosley and Sheldon Woods.
Holly was loved and adored by many in the small community of Perry. Her family remembers her as a bright, energetic little girl who loved to smile. She enjoyed going to school, and loved her teacher and classmates. She was known by loved ones for having a love for singing and dancing. She could often be found outside, playing and swinging with a contagious smile and joy on her face.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Sable Mosley; her paternal grandfather, Sim Woods; her great-grandmother, Rosie P. Tuten and three uncles.
She was survived by her mother, Joy Mosley; her three siblings, Jada, Nina and Austin Cooper; her maternal grandfather Dean Mosley; her paternal grandmother Ruth Woods; and her aunt, Charmane Woods. She has left behind a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 7, at 11 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home in Perry with Pastor Eric Justice of Charity Baptist Church officiating. Interment was held immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family receive dloved ones from 10-11 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, which is in charge of all arrangements.
