Edward L. Mitchell, aged 86, of Wareham, died on Friday, May 26, 2017, at the Bourne Manor Extended Care Center. He was the husband of Mary K. (O’Donnell) Mitchell; they had been married for 60 years. He was born in Brockton, son of the late Fred and Mildred (Kemp) Mitchell. He was a graduate of Stone Hill College and received his Master’s Degree while traveling the United States. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a retired physics and chemistry teacher at the Apponequet Regional High School, Lakeville. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping and especially spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Mark Steven Mitchell of Athens, ME; a daughter, Deborah and her husband Benjamin Hathaway of Wareham; two grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 30th from 10am – 12 noon, in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland.
