On Monday, August 17th, 2015, Clay Edward Standish passed on to the spirit world after a short but difficult battle with cancer. He fought the battle with vigilance and strength, and in the end he was surrounded by those he loved, and those who loved him.

A wonderful and patient son, father, brother, husband and friend, Clay was a man cut from very strong and special cloth. His life was full of adventure, and his talents were many. Originally from Berkeley, California, Clay also lived in Estes Park, Colorado and Houston, Texas. He settled in Long Beach Island, New Jersey to be nearer to his two beloved daughters. He ran his thriving surveying business there for twenty years. He had a propensity for music, mathematics, gardening, goodness, and love.

Clay taught us all so much about the world and ourselves—with such quiet grace. He was one of the sweetest men to walk the earth. We are all very fortunate to have enjoyed his company during his earthly years. This excellent man is survived by his wife Wendy, sister Gayle, niece Michelle, nephew Mark, and daughters Lindsey and Whitney. He will be missed forever, here, there and everywhere. Be good to each other, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.
