Isabell Gomez Abenante, age 76, of Middle Benham Road, Seymour, the beloved wife of 44 years of the late Peter Abenante, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 19 2007 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in East White Plains, N.Y., on September 10, 1930, the loving daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary Moreschie Gomez. Isabell was a long time certified nurse's aide at Wesley Heights in Shelton. She was a former Shelton resident who moved to Seymour three years ago. Isabell, who was a member of the Seymour Senior Center, loved to play Bingo and was an avid homemaker who enjoyed knitting, cooking, baking and spending time with her loving family which included her three devoted sons, Philip A. Abenante of Derby, Peter R. Abenante and his wife Joan of Ansonia, Ralph J. Abenante of Seymour, three beloved daughters, Louise Abenante of Ansonia, Annmarie Drugonis and her husband Christopher of Seymour (with whom she made her home) and Valerie Brower and her husband Philip of Seymour; five cherished grandchildren, Peter J. Abenante, Melissa Abenante, Kristina Brower, Ashleigh Abenante and Alana Isabella Drugonis, whom she loved dearly; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving brother, Salvatore Gomez and her loving sister Delores Jamgoshin. A funeral service in celebration of Isabell's life will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 9 a.m. in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home 260 Bank Street, Seymour (Rt. 67 across from Klarides Village). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment will be in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 from 4 pm to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Isabell's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
