Susan M. Peckham, age 70 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at her residence.
She was born on May 19, 1947 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Charles "Charlie" and Lenore (Liggett) Peckham. Susan graduated from Centerville High School in 1965. She then attended Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, obtaining her LPN license in 1966.
Susan worked as an LPN for several years before returning to Kirkwood Community College to obtain an associate's degree as a registered nurse. She continued working as a registered nurse at numerous hospitals in both Southern Iowa and Northern Missouri, until her retirement in her early 60s.
Susan enjoyed spending time outdoors, often engaging in activities connected with nature, such as hiking or outdoor walks. She was also an animal lover, especially horses and dogs.
She is survived by her three siblings, JoAnna (Charlie) Parker of Omaha, Nebraska, JoEllen Vinton of Plano, Texas, and Gale "Terry" (the Late Heidi Marie) Downer of Rockford, Illinois; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents; and two half brothers, Cloyd "Tom" Peckham and Wilbur "Dick" Eugene Peckham.
Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Susan will be buried next to her parents at the Exline Cemetery in Exline, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa, Iowa, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
