COLFAX - Isaac Thurman "Jack" Armstrong, 77, of 4860 Ashton Road, Sarasota, Fla., a former Downs-Colfax area farmer, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 24, 1989) in Sarasota Memorial Hospital. His funeral was yesterday at Jackson & Lew Funeral Home, Sarasota. He was cremated.

Mr. Armstrong was born May 23, 1911, in Lawrenceburg, Ky., a son of Silas and Effie Corn Armstrong. He married Ruby Simpson on April 20, 1930. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Donald, Edward and Buckie, all of Sarasota; a daughter, Linda Rheinhardt, Sarasota; a sister, Vera Montgomery, Versailles, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Armstrong farmed in the Downs-Colfax area until 1970. He also was a mechanic in Colfax and worked for Barton Construction in Towanda. He was associated with Armstrong construction and heavy duty equipment until his retirement.

Memorials may be made to the Christian Church, 2923 Ashton Road, Sarasota, or a charity of the donor's choice.
