Gustav L. Adams, one of Mulberry's best known business men, passed away at the Clinton county hospital at 7:30 o'clock last Saturday evening. He had been a victim of a heart ailment for several years.

The funeral service was conducted at the Christian church in Frankfort, Tuesday afternoon. The preliminary service was conducted by the Rev. Allen R. Huber, pastor of the Christian church, and the sermon was delivered by Rev. Isaiah Whitman, pastor or the Lutheran church, of Mulberry. The burial was in the Bunnell cemetery.

The following sketch was read as a conclusion to the service which was beautiful and impressive, appropriate songs having been sung by two ladies of the Frankfort Christian congregation.

Gustav Lewis Adams was born in Garrettsville, Ohio, March 18, 1869...

…Because of his ability and …accomplishments, he was made head of the department of European buyers, with an office in Paris. This position he held for 18 years and in the carrying on of this he crossed the ocean thirty-three times. Because of failing health, he resigned his position with Horn & Co. The ensuing nine years were spent in professional golf.

The last eleven years of his life were spent in Mulberry, where he conducted a business in real estate, loans, insurance and commercial law, for five years under the name of Osterday & Adams, and later, following the death of Mr. Osterday, under the name of Adams & Dunk. After dissolving partnership with Loyal Dunk he was assisted by Elbert E. Saeger, who was with him until the time of his passing away.

Mr. Adams was twice married. His first marriage was to Inez Bernard Savage, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, in 1894. No children came to bless this union. She died in Florida about fourteen years ago. His second marriage was to Grace Lenora Osterday of Mulberry, on Sept. 28, 1924, who survives him.

About ten years ago, following an attack of influenza, his health became greatly impaired, and since then he had suffered greatly. Several times his life was despaired of. However, he always rallied, and with determination and grit continued to conduct his business affairs. From his last attack he failed to rally and passed away into the larger life.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and daughter, Lois Inez; one sister, Mrs. Helena Mills, of Los Angeles, Calif., together with many acquaintances and friends.

The pall bearers were: Charles E. Miller, Wm. E. Lowman, bank directors; Harley Peterson, Frank Miller, Masonic lodge; Dr. Hobart Fairfield, Ward Hollaway, from Lake Freeman.

Honorary pall bearers: Chas. E. McMillan, president Citizens National Bank; Jerome Dunk, Wm. Rutan, Horace Kapp, Henry Rauch, Harvey Heimbach, bank directors; Stanley Miller, bank cashier; Dr. Nathan B. Combs, Dr. Nelson B. Combs, Chas. E. Baker, Danville; Raleigh E. Baker, Danville; Paul Laymon, Frankfort.

Tribute bearers: Pearl Combs, Bernice Saeger, Florence Dunk, Evelyn Fairfield, Lake Freeman; Gladys Hollaway, Lake Freeman; Zona Clendenning, Bella Flaningam.
