OLNEY – Lewis E. Gillaspie, 95, of Olney passed away on Thursday (June 1, 2017) in Olney.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1922, in Olney, the son of Aden and Lillian (Waigand) Gillaspie. He married Lois Mae Martin on May 18, 1946, at the Olney Free Methodist Church. She survives.

Lewis was a plumber/pipe fitter for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer during World War II.

He enjoyed fishing and camping. Lewis and his wife, Lois, took pleasure in traveling to Southern states during the winter months. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Lewis was a faithful Christian who attended Olney Free Methodist Church.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lois Gillaspie of Olney; son, Steven Gillaspie and wife Karen of Arcola; daughter, Sandra Sager and husband Jim of Olney; grandchildren, Jamie Combs and husband Eric, Candi Thomas and husband Bryan, Cody Gillaspie and wife Heather; great-grandchildren, Madison, Macy and Lilee Thomas, Sophie and Baylie Combs, Hope, Hana and Jake Gillaspie; great-great-grandchildren, Dexter Thomas and Malakai Thomas; stepgrandchild, Tracy Hall-Ingram and husband Joe; step-great-grandchildren, Lane Ray and wife Emmie, and Bethany Ray; step-great-great-grandchild, Aubree Ray; sisters, Margaret Osman, Katherine (Alan) Brouard and Linda (Cyril) Page; brother-in-law, William Kellogg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Aline (Gillaspie) Kellogg.

Memorials can be made to the Olney Free Methodist Church.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial following in Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney.

Full military rites will be performed at the graveside.
