Alice Faye Parker Wade went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2017.

A visitation will be held at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8 concluding a 7 p.m. Vigil Service. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday June 9 at All Saints Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Alice was born December 14, 1928 in Putnam County, Missouri to Graydon Parker and Eva Frances (May) Parker. She graduated as valedictorian of Farrar High School, where she also played basketball. Alice went on to graduate from Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines, IA.

She worked for the Iowa Farm Bureau, and later was a secretary at Urbandale High School in the early 1960’s when her children were in school. From 1967 to retirement in 1978, she co-owned Kahler-Wade Greenhouses with her late husband, Bill Wade.

Alice was known for her “can do” attitude, including remodeling her own kitchen while in her 70’s. She served actively and faithfully at All Saints Church for many years, and served as president of the Altar and Rosary Society. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren fondly remember her creativity and the many games and crafts she would invent for them. Alice enjoyed gardening, and traveling.

Alice is survived by her son William Michael Wade; daughters Jeri Remington (Tom Woods), Denise Beckman (Dennis) and Patti Parlee (Mark); grandchildren Katie Leporte (Mike), Michael Beckman (Sarah), Reggie “Tug” Collette (Michelle), Ben Collette, Ryan Parlee (Jessica), Stacie Johnson (Dr. Marcus), and Erica Parlee; and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Betty Thornton (Ed) and brother Lester Parker (Bobbi.)

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wade, her parents, her sister Amber, and her brothers Max and Dale, and her granddaughter Taylor Parlee.

Memorial gifts may be made to Mercy Hospice - Johnston, or All Saints Catholic Church.
