Charlie L. Pace of Alexandria, 46, formerly of Winnfield, died in St. Mary's Hospital of Mayo Brothers, Rochester, Minn., at 7 o'clock Wednesday night. Death followed an operation.

Funeral arrangements have not been made at this time. The body will be sent to either Alexandria or Winnfield for burial.

Mr. Pace moved to Winnfield from Shreveport with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Pace, about 1905. He was agent for the Rock Island later and from 1907 until 1917, agent for the Tremont & Gulf. In 1917 he went to Alexandria, where he operated the C. L. Pace Transfer & Truck Freight Lines until his death.

He was born in Gibsland. He married Miss Lena Tannehill of Winnfield, and to this union five children were born. He is survived by the widow, and five children, Richard, Charles, Herbert, Claude, and Marie. He was accompanied to Rochester by Mrs. Pace, who is returning south today.

Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Pace of Alexandria, three sisters survive.They are Mrs. C. B. Cole, Winnfield, Mrs. M. Plilar, Shreveport, and Mrs. Lee Berlin, Marksville.

Mr. Pace was a member of the First Methodist Church and of the Masonic Fraternity.

Charles L. Pace, president of the C. L. Pace Transfer and Storage Co., Inc., of Alexandria, died Wednesday evening, August 3, at 7 o'clock at the Mayo Brothers Clinic in Rochester, Minn. following a serious illness of only a few weeks. He had been at the well known Rochester clinc for about ten days and was accompanied by Mrs. Pace, who was at his bedside when death occurred.

Mr. Pace had been operating a large transfer and storage business in Alexandria for some ten or twelve years, and was well known and liked here. His death came as a shock to his many friends and business associates who deeply regret his passing.

Deceased is survived by his wife, four sons, Claud, Herbert, Charles and Richard Pace, and a daughter, Miss Marie Pace, all of Alexandria. He also leaves his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Pace, of Alexandria, and three sisters, Mrs. J. D. Plilar, Shreveport, La.; Mrs. Lee Berlin, Marksville, La., and Mrs. C. B. Cole, Winnfield, La.

Mr. Pace lived in Winn parish a greater part of his life, moving to Alexandria about twelve years ago. He was a man who made many lasting friendships and who was possessed of splendid qualities. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

His remains are expected to arrive Saturday by train from Minnesota. Funeral arrangements have not been completed, pending arrival of the remains, but will be in charge of Hixson Brothers, funeral directors.
