Willis was the son of George and Catharine Lare and husband of Mary J. He resided at 534 Barbadoes St., Norristown, PA. Civil War - Willis enlisted as a Corporal in Company H, 99th Infantry Regt. on July 14, 1861. He was wounded on July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg, PA. He was mustered out on July 15, 1864. Willis filed on Feburary 8, 1879 for an invalid pension (Application #266.502, Certificate #171.584). His widow, Mary J., filed for a widow pension on September 21, 1887 (Application #360.965, Certificate #279.277).
