Mr. Poland was born Sept 19, 1917, in the Carrolls area. He was the only son and had 4 sisters. Ruth, Esther, Mildred and Jane. He and Jane were twins. James never married.
Before retirement, he had worked as a mill grade and security guard at Longview and Kalama mills.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and had lived in Cowlitz County his whole life.
He is survived by a sister, Mildred Edwards of Seattle, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Woodland funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Interment will beat Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Carrolls.
