"Titusville Man Killed in Crash On Hydetown Road - Roy Beuchat Dies When Car Plunges Into Tanker's Front; Depression in Road Leads to Accident - Roy Beuchat, 39, 622 West Spring street, was fatally injured at 7 o'clock last night when his 1935 Hudson coach smashed headon into a Mack tractor and tank semi-trailer loaded with gasoline at the west entrance to Greenwood cemetery. The tanker was owned by Pennland Tankers, Inc, of Rouseville....People who ran to the car after the collision found Beuchat sitting on the right side of the front seat, unconscious. Calls were made for ambulances after considerable telephone delay. Three arrived about twenty minutes after the accident. The injured man was rushed to the Titusville Hospital, where he died in 20 minutes. Dr C M Sonne, Deputy Coroner, told The Herald that Beuchat had suffered a fractured skull, crushed chest, fractures of both legs, fracture of right arm and [an] extensive scalp wound across the top of his head. Beuchat was driving to Titusville from his Hydetown garage.....Roy Beauchat was born at Nantua (sic) [Mantua], Ohio, on Nov 8 1907, son of Charles and Ruth Laibe Beuchat, who now reside at Guys Mills. He married Jean O'Connor at Meadville in 1936 and she survives, with the following children: Rose Ann, Sandra, Patricia and Thomas. There are also two brothers, Ralph of Meadville and Russell of Guys Mills. The deceased was a member of St Hippolyte's church at Frenchtown, the Titusville Eagles, the Cleo J Ross Post, 368, American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the infantry from January, 1944, until his discharge in October, 1945. He was wounded in Germany on Nov 4, 1944, after having participated in the Northern France campaign. Recovering, he served in the Rhineland campaign. He was discharged with a rating of private first class. Mr Beuchat came to Titusville in the spring of 1946 and operated a filling station on West Spring street. He disposed of the business about seven months ago and purchased the garage at Hydetown. The body is at the Tracy Home of Funerals....Funeral services will be conducted in St Hippolyte's church in Frenchtown on Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in the church cemetery."
