Emmitt S. Adams, 88, of Benton, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at a local health care facility.

He was known for his love of music and the song “When You and I Were Young Maggie”. Emmitt was proud of his service to his country and was in the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Adams; parents, Robert and Mary Adams; brothers, Charley, Donald, Lee and Walter Adams; sisters, Cecil Jones and Nellie Ammons; two infant sisters and one infant brother.

He is survived by his children, Samuel Lee (Shauna) Adams, Michael Jay Adams, Martin Anthony (Pamela) Adams; grandchildren, Wesley (Shawna) Adams, Kyle Adams, Sherina Adams, Marty Jay (Alicia) Adams, Maya (Josh) Bullard, Aaliah Adams, Nickolas Adams, Manny Adams, Carin Davis; great grandchildren, Destany Adams, Liam Elbers, Peyton Campbell, Tyler Adams, Hailey Adams, Will Adams, Callie Adams, Ava Lepetina, Darrin Dillingham, Kylie Bullard, Kaylin Bullard, Kindle Bullard. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, TN with the Reverend Johnny Wilcox officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Greasy Creek Cemetery, Reliance, TN.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the funeral home prior to the service.
