The Alford Thurston in following census not proved to be same, but appears to be, in which case he may have been orphaned at young age:
1860 Peoria IL: THURSTON George/7, Alford/4, John/2 in home of HEAP Jeremiah/74, Ellen/67, John/20, Johanna/21.

The Alfred Thurston who enlisted in Civil War - Union, Co A 67th Inf. Reg. - Illinois on Jun 19 1862 could not be this Alfred, who would only be 7 yrs; but possibly a relative.

No visible dates on stone, dates entered here are from cemetery record, source unknown.

There is space on both sides of Alfred's stones for burials. It is probable his wives Isola B. (Ray) and Eliza A. (Maupin) are here. Parents of both wives buried here.

Marker has been broken, or has sunk into ground, bottom portion is not visable. Engraved "Husband of Eliza Thurston". No marker has been found for her, it is possible her name, dates were on this stone before it was broken, but seems unlikely.

No Mo. on-line death certificate found.
