Jan would be described as a person who loved being out-of-doors and being around animals. She had her own horse at an early age and rode a mule into the Grand Canyon at age 72. Her love of the out doors continued and grew when she married Marshall Long, who worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Even in their later years they were often seen on the walking trail up until they moved to the Willow West apartments. They were always at Montauk State Park on opening day of trout season; and camping and canoeing were enjoyed no matter what the temperature. When she wasn't in her flower beds or garden, she was quilting, or volunteering at Munch Thrift Store, or attending aerobics classes.
She was preceded in death, by her parents; her husbands Glenn Brigance who passed away in August, 1972, and Marshall Long on July 1, 2016. Also preceding her were her sisters, Blanche H. Worel and Marion McCormack, and her brother, Ross McCormack.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Nancy Ogle of Overland Park, KS and her brother, Roderick S. McCormack of Cleveland, OK. She is further survived by three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was also a devoted Aunt.
Funeral services for Jan will be at the First Christian Church, located at 310 North Center Street, in Willow Springs, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Kendal Bates officiating. A visitation will be held at 12 pm prior to the service. Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Jan's name to the First Christian Church.
