Connie Lorene MACKLEIT (10/27/1938 - 05/26/2017)

The "mom and grandma" to many, Connie Lorene Mackleit (Kelley) passed away on May 26, 2017. Connie was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Lee and Pansy (Domon) Kelley on October 27, 1938. Connie moved to Quincy, Washington, where she graduated from high school. While a senior in high school, Connie met her soon to be forever love and husband, Robert Mackleit. Connie and Bob married on June 17, 1956.

Bob was in the US Air Force, and for the next twenty-two years they were stationed at many bases all over the country. During the various stops along the way, they welcomed four daughters into their lives. The first, Teresa Ann, was born in Soap Lake, Washington. The second, Tamra Marie, was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The third born was Tina Annette in Honolulu, Hawaii. The baby, the fourth daughter, Terrenia Michelle was born in Sacramento, California. Bob and Connie decided to retire from military life in 1974 and settled down in Spokane, Washington.

Connie soon started her career at Albertsons grocery stores where she retired after 27 years of service. Connie worked at the Pines Road, Northwest Blvd, and Highway 27th stores. On her morning commute to work at the Northwest Blvd store on April 16, 1988, Connie found herself in the right place at the right time. She was blessed to help deliver an infant, Matthew Riebold, on the side of the road. Matthew grew up calling Connie "Grandma" and he and his parents (Earl and Emily) remained in touch throughout the years.

Connie is survived by her sister Mira (Eddie); brother Butch; her daughters Teresa (Ron), Tamra (Tony), Tina (Doug), Terrenia (Mark); her grandkids Carmen (Scott), Jay Robert (Sarah), Stephanie (Mitch), Roni (Jason), Shaunte (Brian), Markie, Dylan, Luke (Aron) and her great-grandkids, Riann, Savanna, Logan, Jude, Tolliver, MacKay, Harper, Dash, Quinn and multiple in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, her twin brother Conrad and nine other siblings.

A service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Hospice House of Spokane at 367 E. 7th Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.
"Our mom will be dearly missed by all the lives that she touched."
