OBITUARY -- CLAYTON HEADY
Clayton Amon Heady was born in Putnam County, Indiana, Oct 22nd, 1853, and departed this life October 14th, 1911. He was married to Josie Robbins Nov., 18th. 1883, and to this union was born one son, Frank Heady. Mr. Heady was a son of Imri and Elizabeth Heady, who departed this life some years ago.
He leaves surviving to mourn his departure a wife and son. He was one of a family of fifteen children of whom six sisters and one brother survive. He was a member of the Christian Church, having united with the same, several years ago, and was also a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Advance, Indiana. On account of failing health he has been deprived for the past year of attending and affiliating with his church and lodge. He bore his sufferings without a murmur and left all evidence that he was prepaired (sic) and willing to go. In the hour of death he called family to him and bade them goodbye.
His faith was such that, when his time came to join the innumerable throng that makes its way to that mysterious realm where each shall take his chamber in the silent walls of death, he went not like the quarry slave, at night scourged to his dungeon, but sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust, approached his grave like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams.
Funeral services were held here at Christian Church. Monday afternoon, by Rev. L.H. Graham. Interment at I.O.O.F. cemetery.
