During this time Phil ran two restaurants, wrote poetry and music, and became Senior Vice President at Drake, Beam and Morin. He was Pastor of Holy Spirit Parish 1991 to 1996. In 1996 he was appointed Vicar for Parish and Pastoral ministries of the Catholic Diocese of San Jose. Phil retired from active ministry July 1, 2003.
During retirement Phil took up painting. He pursued music composition and continued to write poetry. He volunteered at the Parkinson's Institute. He was passionate about the Church's need to re-engage young adults in the life and leadership of the Church in significant ways. He was actively involved in bringing this dream to fruition when he died. Philip touched many lives with his goodness, passion, humor, faith and joy in living.
