Son of Philip Shroyer and Maria Sturtz, Philip Shroyer Jr. was likely to be born around 1790 given the known chronological births of his siblings and the birth year of his first child. He and his family of origin migrated to Salem Township in Muskingum County, Ohio in 1806.

When he became of age, Philip returned to Londonderry Township in Bedford County, Pennsylvania where was living his maternal grandfather Christian Sturtz in neighboring Southampton Township in Somerset County, Pennsylania. Here he married Mary Martz, daughter of William Martz, a neighbor, and raised his family.

It is also unknown just when Philip Shroyer, Jr. died, however a summons was issued to all of his children in 1863 to negotiate the property that was still in his name after his passing. Philip did not leave a will, however the summons indicate that he died in Londonderry Township. Attached are two of the summons which appeared in the Bedford Gazette. Spelling errors occur in some of the surnames listed.
