It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Gertrude (Trudy) Christina Ajas (nee Juffermans), at the Lacombe General Hospital, at the age of 83, on March 20, 2010. Trudy was born November 8, 1926 in The Hague, Holland. She was united in marriage to Paul Ajas in October 13, 1945 in Hilversum, Holland. Trudy was , a war bride who emigrated to Canada in 1945 to settle on a farm with Paul near the McLeod River in Peers, AB. area. To the 52 year union, 2 children were born, Paul Jr. and Jeanette. Following 7 years of farming in the McLeod Valley District, Paul and Trudy moved to Edmonton where Trudy worked at Sears for a number of years. They then moved to Blackfalds and in 1963 moved to Lacombe. Trudy worked at Soley's Hardware and Home Hardware until her retirement. Trudy and Paul spent many happy years camping and travelling throughout the United States, particularly Utah and Arizona. They also had fun playing bingo and meeting many friends. During the last few years mom also has had many special times with her companion George Bellows and continued to have fun playing bingo. Trudy loved her grandchildren, and great grandchildren and asked about them everyday. She was a warm hearted lady with incredible life experiences and stories to share. She was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius and Adriana Juffermans, husband, Paul Ajas (1998) and brother, Cornelius. Trudy leaves to mourn her passing two children; five grandchildren, three grandchildren from Vancouver Island: , (and five great grand-children: her special companion, George a niece and five nephews, relatives in Holland, her bingo friends and host of other friends. Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew's United Church 5226-51 Ave., Lacombe at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. If desired memorial donations in Trudy's honour, may be made to the Lacombe Palliative Care Society Box 5576 Lacombe, Alberta T4L 1X2 or The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta #101, 5208-53rd Ave. Red Deer, Alberta T4N 5K2.
