Robert entered service (selected service) in the US Army and arrived in Vietnam on August 8 1969 where he was assigned to and served with Company B, 1st Battalion, 61st Infantry, 5th Infantry Divison (Mech), USAV.
Wounded in action by multiple fragmentation wounds from a hostile explosive device when his unit encountered the enemy, he was medically evacuated to a military facility for treatment where died on December 28, 1969 from the wounds he had sustained.
