Wilma graduated from Franklin High School, Portland, Multnomah, Oregon in 1927 (Wilma was the Sophomore Class President at Franklin High School). Wilma attended Oregon State University, Corvallis, Benton, Oregon from 1927-1929, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
