Theodore Nicholas Sondag Family
Theodore N Sondag was born in 1890. He was the son of Theodore and Mary (Korth) Sondag. On August 12, 1919, he was married at St Mary's Church, Portsmouth, Iowa to Helena Amanda Peterson. She was born in 1899 at Mondamin, Iowa. Her parents were John and Catherine (Wilwerding) Peterson. She moved with her parents to Portsmouth in 1902. Theodore "Dick" and Helena were the parents of six children: William (1921); Mary Catherine (1922), she is now Sister Severnia OSF; Philip (1926-1926); John (1927); Joyce (1934); Edward (1937).
The Sondag family lived and farmed in Portsmouth area at various times. Theodore died in 1966. Helena then made her home with her daughter, Joyce, in Des Moines, Iowa. She died February 13, 1998, and they are both buried in Portsmouth, Iowa
