Stanley C. Brown Sr. went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2005.

Born in Akron, Ohio, on Nov. 24, 1934, Stan lived in Streetsboro for the past 45 years. He retired from Terex in Hudson in 1988 and was a special deputy for the Portage County Sheriff's Department for a number of years. Stan enjoyed his early evening car rides with his wife, Janet, and dog, Lady, looking for deer. Stan loved hunting and fishing, camping at Woodside Park, but most of all, spending time laughing and joking with his family and friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Minnie Brown, and brother, Birdie (Albert). Stan leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Janet (married May 21, 1955). Also surviving are his children, Stanley Brown Jr. (Vivian Cole), Pamela (Michael) Rowe, Robert (Terry) Brown, Jennifer Miller (Mike Stephenson), Steven (Debbie) Brown, Brian (Beverly) Brown; his brother, Robert (Mary) Brown; sisters, Alice McDonald and Betsy (Andy) Barnette. He will be missed by his 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Calling hours will be TODAY, 5 to 8 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be Thursday, 1 p.m., at the funeral home, Pastor Donald Davies officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Western Reserve. (Newcomer Funeral Home, 330-784-3334.)
