Joseph Herbert Cardone was born April 3, 1920, in Madisonville, St. Tammany Parish, LA., the son of Joseph Salvadore Cardone and Eunice Elizabeth Stein. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering. He married Virginia Bach in California. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U. S. Navy. After retirement in California, the family moved to Arizona. His obituary was published in the Daily News, Sun City, Arizona, as follows:

"Joseph H. Cardone, 85, of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away on Friday, December 30, 1005. He was born and raised in Madisonville, Louisiana, and graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. As a Lieutenant in the United States Navy, he served in the South Pacific during the Second World War. Most notably at the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After that he went on to become an Exeutive at C. F. Braun and Company in Alhambra, California. He lived in Altadena, California for over forty years until retiring in Sun City West Arizona in 1984. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Virginia, in 1999. He is survived by his two sons, Joseph S. and his wife, Carol, of Flagstaff, Arizona; MIchael J. and his wife Elaine of Arcadia, California; his brother, John E. Cardone and his wife, Madge, of Lakes Charles, Louisiana, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation as at Sunland Funeral Home, Del Webb Boulevard, Sun City, Arizona, on Thursday, January 5, 2006 between 4:00 and 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 6:00 P.M. Burial Mass was 10:00 A.M. on Friday, January 6, 2006, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sun City West with interment to follow at Sunland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McShane-Ronn Family Scholarship Fund for St. Vincent de Paul School students, or a favorite charity."
