Otis Yelton, age 70, of Duncan Street in Spruce Pine, died Monday, May 22, 2017 at his home.

Born on August 14, 1946 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late John and Dollie Hoilman Yelton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Adkins Yelton who passed away in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his brother; James Yelton and his sisters; Pansy Hoilman, Elizabeth Yelton and Bobbi Biddix.

Otis was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church and he was retired from Unimin Corporation. More than anything else, Otis enjoyed working.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Otis Yelton on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 5:30 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev’s Larry Greene and Jimmy Upton officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 4:30 pm until the service hour in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Byrd Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to; Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.

The family would like to express their sincere ‘Thanks’ to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge and particularly Jennifer and Kama for their excellent care of Oits.
