She married Sammie ('Sam') Lee Smith on March 30, 1963 in Rolla, MO. She and Sam later moved to Owensboro, KY where they raised their family before Sam retired in 2000 and they began wintering in Melbourne, FL.

Glatha was a devoted wife and mother. Glatha enjoyed working with children during summer vacation bible school. She was a member of Blue Grass UMC in Evansville, IN where she and Sam recently lived for many years. Glatha loved cooking, baking, and antiquing – both collecting and restoring. She enjoyed playing Mexican Train Dominoes with friends and family. She was a long time member of the WBCCI Airstream Club and traveled to many events across the U.S. She was passionate about genealogy and spent many years tracing her family lineage. She also enjoyed teaching as well as creating a multitude of arts and crafts projects; such as, stained glass, weaving straw baskets, creating temari balls, tole painting, the list goes on. Most of all, she enjoyed family.

Glatha fought courageously for 10 years battling against Pulmonary Fibrosis. Complications from the disease ultimately, suddenly, and somewhat unexpectedly took her life on March 8th.
