Mathias "Chick" Allen, 60, a lifelong resident of Kamiah, died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday of diabetes at the Clearwater Valley Hospital, Orofino, after being ill for about two months.

A retired farm laborer, Allen was born Dec. 27, 1911, at Kamiah, the son of Mark and Hattie Allen.

He served in World War II, in the South Seas.

He married Beatrice McAtty, Jan 12, 1946. They were later separated.
