Carolyn graduated from Nezperce High School in 1948, and soon afterward went to work for Potlatch Forests Inc. in Lewiston.
It was there she met and fell in love with Edward "Woody" Woodruff. They were married on August 26, 1950 in Walla Walla, and then began their family life together in Lewiston and Clarkston raising three daughters (Ann, Jane and Tonia) and one son (Lance). Ed's job with American Sign and Indicator subsequently brought the family to Spokane (1960), where many years of memorable activities and friendships began.
Carolyn was of great support to Ed, and took a very active role in raising us children. She was a beautiful seamstress, master gardener, stylish hairdresser, decorator/designer extraordinaire and cherished the opportunity to volunteer her time to help each of us children prosper in whatever activities were of interest to us.
As the children became older, she enjoyed working outside the home, including Nita's Knits (specialty fabric store) and The Treehouse (fashion boutique). Whether it was neighborhood family connections, or through her work outside the home, Mother cultivated many lasting friendships, of which we will always be grateful and never forget.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Edward "Woody" Woodruff in 1998, parents Harold L. and Margaret E. Powell, sister Phyllis Hendron, and brother Harold L. Powell, Jr.
