Robert Eugene Harms, 80 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Elm Creek), passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Mount Carmel Home in Kearney. Robert was born February 12, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska, the third child born to John and Helena (Osterbuhr) Harms. He received his education from Elm Creek Public Schools, graduating from Elm Creek High School with the class of 1955.

On April 28, 1962, Robert was united in marriage to Kathleen A. Earl at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elm Creek, and the couple was blessed with one son, Rustin. Robert and Kathleen made their home in Elm Creek, where Robert was employed by Rusty’s Fertilizer south of Elm Creek for eighteen years, and then the Elm Creek Co-op in Elm Creek, for twenty-four years as a fuel truck driver.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his son and granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Warren Leach; sisters: Helen Leach, Ardella Harms, and Arlene Nelson and her husband Richard; and brothers-in-law: Clarence “LaVern” Johnson and Dean Shubert.

Robert leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, of 55 years, Kathleen Harms of Kearney; son, Rustin Harms of Elm Creek; granddaughter, Chloe Harms of Elm Creek; two sisters: Berniece Clark and her husband, Lon of Holdrege and Elaine Worthing and her husband, Greg of Venango, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Phyllis Shubert of Elm Creek; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
