Joyce Anderson Yount Lyon, 91, of Hickory, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born July 2, 1925, in Catawba County.
She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Russell Yount and Mildred Anderson Yount.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lewis Lyon.
Mrs. Lyon was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Prime Timers, and had retired from Yount Transfer.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Rebecca Lyon Houston and husband, Mike of Hickory; sons, Homer Lewis (Lee) Lyon Jr. and wife, Sandy of Hickory and Earl Lawrence Lyon of Hickory; sisters, Mildred (Mickey) Yount Glickman of Hickory and Carol Yount Lutz of Newton; grandsons, Kevin Michael Houston and wife, Angie, Jason Patrick Houston and Brett Earl Lyon; granddaughters, Haley Lyon, Heather Lyon; great-grandsons, Hayden Alejo, Heath Alejo, Zackery Houston, Chase Houston; and great-granddaughters, Anniston Houston and one due in Oct.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 21, in Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Randall Cauble officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home, in the lower building.
