Maria N. Syoen, 95, of Altamont died at 12:22 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Fr. Ralph Zetzl officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clare Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be to the donor’s choice.
Maria was born on Tuesday, March 7, 1922 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Louis and Ada (Chipolla) D’Amico. She married Gerald Syoen on October 26, 1957 and he preceded her in death in 2004. She was affiliated with the Catholic Church. She had been a homemaker and an office manager prior to her retirement.
She is survived by her daughters, June Morrow of Evanston, IL and Andrea Peck of Green Valley, Arizona; 2 grandchildren, Amy Robinson and John Shemaitis; 2 brothers, Lawrence and Louis; and 2 sisters, Elsie and Alvina.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
