Roger Murphy Gideon A memorial service and visitation for Roger Murphy Gideon, 84, of Granbury will be from 3 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005 at Granbury Disciples of Christ Church, U.S. Highway 377 West. The civic leader in both Granbury and Stephenville died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005.

In lieu of flowers, Roger wished each person do a good deed anonymously with “that was for you, Roger” in their hearts.

The University of Texas at Austin graduate was a Navy veteran in World War II. In Stephenville he owned a printing and office supply store, was a civic leader and served on the board of Sunbelt Savings & Loan. In Granbury he was branch manager of Stephenville Savings & Loan, a leader in the Chamber of Commerce and the Granbury Industrial Foundation. He was president of the Hood County Appraisal District and served on the board 10 years He also worked in real estate and was a Mason. He was an Elder in the Disciples of Christ Church and moderator of the board in Stephenville and Granbury.

Survivors are wife, Frances of Granbury; son, Steve Gideon and Melanie Jones of Houston; grandson, Taylor and Jennifer Gideon; great-grandson, Avery Cash Gideon; daughter, Louan Gideon and Walt Borchers of Los Angeles, Calif.
