Albert D. Adkins, 82, of Oakdale died Friday, Jan. 5 2007 at his home. Mr. Adkins was a native of Oklahoma. He lived in Oakdale 21 years. He was a diesel mechanic at Safeway for 22 years. He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association.

Survivors include his children, Patricia Gawthrop of Hayward and Rich Adkins of Oakdale; grandchildren, Jeffrey Gawthrop of Hayward and Cary Adkins of Texas, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Oleta Adkins.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 at the chapel. Burial will follow at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
