It has long been thought that Mary Ann died before 1865 as she could not be found anywhere. When, in fact, it has been discovered that Elias and Mary divorced between 1861 and before or about 1863. Mary remarried in 1863 to a Benjamin Zaran Thrasher and had a number of children. She died of Apoplexy (cerebral hemorrhage or stroke) on 7 May 1930 at the age of 93 years and 15 days, in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio, at the home of her son, George Thrasher. She is buried in Yankeesburg Cemetery in Washington County, Ohio.
