Lenora Frances Burson Buchanon, 87, retired Claims Representative at the United States Social Security Office, formerly of Greenville, died around noon on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Frances had been living with her son in Star City, Arkansas, since the passing of her husband a few years ago.

Frances was born September 22nd, 1929 in Montgomery, Alabama the daughter of Leroy and Marguerite Burson. She graduated from Goodwater High School, Goodwater, Alabama. After high school she received a scholarship to Jackson State near Birmingham, Alabama. Frances played piano since the age of three. She was the pianist at Grace United Methodist Church from 1957 until 2012. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Greenville.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phillip Ray Buchanon; son, Terry Phillip Buchanon; brother, William Eugene Burson; and sister, Ola Mae Burson Sims.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Vickie Lynne) Buchanon of Pascagoula, and Ralph (Mellie Ruth) Buchanon of Star City, Arkansas; five grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Viewing hours will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, May 19, 2017 at Mortimer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church of Greenville, prior to the service.

Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 20th, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church of Greenville. Rev. Lauren Porter will officiate.

Interment will be in Lakeview Gardens, under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home.
