Melva Jean was born August 5, 1926, to Jesse and Hatti Birdie Dye in Yonkers, Oklahoma. She was the third born of five children.

Melva Jean, 90, passed away on May 12, 2017.

At 18 she met and married Marshall E. McDaniel in 1945. They moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. They were married 59 years and had three children: Marshall Jr., Gloria and Nancy.

Jean worked 14 and a half years for Hewlett-Packard and loved her work. She was an accomplished painting artist. Melva loved to travel with her husband and family and also enjoyed camping.

She is survived by her children: Marshall Jr. (Maria), Gloria (Merlin), Nancy (Gary), Richard (Jeanie); eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Eddie (Shirley) Dye; sister-in-law, Wilma (Bishop) Wadsworth; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
