Mr. Starks was born April 15, 1937 in Madisonville to the late Raymond Starks and Nell Vannoy Starks.
Mr. Starks retired as Command Sergeant Major from the U.S. Army with over 35 years of service. He worked as a coal miner and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed U.K. basketball, golf, and working in the yard. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois Day Starks; one daughter, one son, two sisters, and one brother, Don
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Military rites will be performed by the 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell.
Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers serving at the funeral home will be Chris Ashby, Dan Rust, David Dreusicke, Bob Thomas, Nick Nicholas, and Blake Barnard, with the 101st Airborne serving at the cemetery.
