Agnes I. Abare
NEWCOMB - Agnes I. Abare, 76, a longtime resident of Newcomb, passed away Friday, April 21, 2000, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born July 28,1923, in the town of Saranac, she was the daughter of Loren and Lena (Hart) Seney.
Agnes married Leonard Abare on Feb. 18, 1943. Following their marriage, the couple resided in Tahawus and have lived and raised their family in Newcomb since the mid-1960s.
She enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers, crocheting, making afghans, ceramics and assisting her son at his ceramics shop in Fort Edward.
Besides her parents, her two brothers, Robert Seney of Ellenburg Depot and Clifton Seney of Lake Pleasant, and her sister, Marie Williams of Bloomingdale, also died before her.
Survivors besides her husband of 57 years include her son, Leonard R. Abare of Fort Edward; two brothers, Lawrence Seney of Ellenburg Depot and Clifton Seney of Newcomb; two sisters, Cecile Bruce of Saranac and Theresa LaVarnway of Speculator; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at II a.m. Friday at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Newcomb. There are no calling hours scheduled. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oncology Unit of Glens Falls Hospital, 102 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801, in Mrs. Abare's memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Alexander Funeral . Home, North River.
