LaVerne "Verne" R. Thorson, 73, Brainerd, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born on March 3, 1933, in Leona, Wis., to Lloyd and Ruth (Gruman) Thorson. He ran the Thorson Market in Pine Center.

He is survived by his wife, Ada, of Brainerd; his sons, LaVerne Thorson Jr., of Spokane, Wash., LeRoy Thorson, St. Paul, Jeff (Michelle) Thorson, of Pillager, John Lindberg, of Fort Ripley, and Alan (Marilyn) Lindberg, of Great Plains, Ala.; his daughters, Sarah Thorson, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Katherine (Clinton) Wunderlich, of Harlingen, Texas, Jacquline (Todd) Jensen, of Onamia, Lori (Dave) Mindermann, of Red Lake Falls, and Shelly (Flynn) Dustrud, of Madison, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; he also is survived by his brothers, Al, Ronnie, Ned, Gene, Sam and Lloyd; and his sisters, Orpha, Norma, Suzy, Sandy and Karen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Michael, and his sister, Rita.

Services will be Monday, March 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Lakeview Community Church in Hillman with Pastor Dave Gouldin officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Arrangements are with Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd.
