Arthur H. Wellmerling Jr., 91, of Bloomington, passed away at 2:01 p.m. Wednesday (May 10, 2017) with his family by his side at Bickford House, Bloomington.
Arthur was born Sept. 25, 1925 in Bloomington, a son of Arthur H. Sr. and Eva Green Wellmerling. He married Rose Marie Schwoerer on June 29, 1947 in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 2008.
Surviving are two daughters, Janice Wellmerling and Judy (Mike) Christopher; grandson, Chris (Michele) Tackett; two granddaughters, Angie (Andy) Scott and Sara (Chris) Westfall and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Arthur proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic during World War II. He worked as a mechanic at Standard Oil Gas Station in Bloomington and later at State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, where he retired.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomington. Arthur loved tinkering with old cars, taking pictures with his camera and collecting lawn mowers and flashlights. He enjoyed going out to eat with ‘the boys.’
Arthur was a loving father, grandfather and family man and will be greatly missed.
