In his younger years he used to box under the name Gene Turner out of Birminham Ala (He said they called him kid Lamp one blow and he was out). He has a plaque with his name on it at the court house in Huntsville Ala.,He was inducted into the Southeastern boxing hall of fame. He was Married to Ella Mae Hill had five children than to Sally Ann Shepard and had four children. Sally and Dillard are my parents. All of the kids that came around the house called him Dill Pickle.
