Amye Brewster was born in England, about 1565. Her parents are unknown. She married Edmund Weld in Sudbury, Suffolk, on April 12, 1585, at St. Peter’s Church there. Edmund was a prosperous merchant. They had at least seven sons and two daughters, including the Rev. Thomas Weld, who came to Massachusetts in 1632. Her husband wrote his will on December 5, 1605. He named his wife Amye in the will, so we know she was alive at that date. Her husband die in Sudbury and was buried in the churchyard of St. Peter’s Church there. There is no reason to believe that Amye was buried anywhere else.
