Ermine Catherine Lane Saunders
Funeral services for Mrs. Ermine Catherine Saunders, 80 years of age, were held Monday, February 27 at 2 p.m. from the lone Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. B.E. Settles in charge, assisted by the Rev. Kit Yeaste and the Rev. Roy Houston of Danville. Burial was in Brookside cemetery. Mrs. Saunders, daughter of the late Elisha and ancy Reed Lane, was born in Green County, September 18, 1869. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Claude Russell, on Route 5, Saturday, February 25, at 7 p.m. after an illness of several months. She professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Lone Valley Baptist Church. She united in marriage to Allen Jones Saunders, May 2, 1897. He preceded her in death, May 29, 1941. To this union, one son and four daughters were born; Robert L. Saunders of Louisville, Mrs. Claude Russell, Mrs. Richard Rucker, Mrs. Orris Warf, and Mrs. Albert Stewart, all of Taylor County, also one step-daughter, Mrs. Fred Faulkner of Campbellsville, and one step-son, James E. Saunders of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, Frank Lane, of Taylor County; 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were grandsons; Russell McVay, Tom, Bob, Wallace Russell , and Richard Lee Russell, and Orris Wood Warf.
