Donald D. "Don" Derrick IRMO - Funeral service for Donald D. "Don" Derrick, 78, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Salem United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Derrick passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Born February 28, 1939, in Ballentine, he was the only child of the late Weldon and Earline Derrick. Mr. Derrick retired from the U.S. Air Force as a senior master sergeant following 20 years of service. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, the Seekers Sunday School Class, and he served in numerous positions in the church throughout his life. Mr. Derrick volunteered with Sharing God's Love and the Hanna House for eight years where he would pick up food from three different Food Lion stores several days a week and deliver to them. He is survived by his wife, Faye Broadway Derrick; son, Donald D. Derrick, Jr.; daughter, Beth Derrick; stepson, Carl Cagle, Jr.; granddaughter, Nikki Tancer (Buck); two great-grandsons, Bucky and Zack.
