When God calls you answer. Weedon Wright “Tip” Bowie, of Baltimore, MD, was called as he slept on Friday, May 5, 2017, and he went. He was born March 26, 1943, in Frederick, MD, to the late Austin T. Bowie and Nellie Weedon Bowie.

Wright, better known as Tip, attended Lincoln High School, worked in the dry-cleaning industry and was a resourceful entrepreneur all of his life. Those who knew him describe him as a kind and caring man. He was an overseer, looking after everyone. He's received numerous awards for volunteering and was a member of African American Gentlemen's Organization. He loved casinos and the races. He'd been busy with the Kentucky Derby and Pimlico Preakness this time of year.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Shirley Hall; daughters, Dana Moore (Tony), Tyronda Jackson, and Kimberly Bowie; son, Lionel Bowie; brother, Francis Bowie; grandchildren, Tony Moore Jr., Brittany Jackson, Brandon Moore, Theron Jackson, Chardonnay Jackson, Arielle Jackson, Gabrielle Bowie, and Garrett Bowie; Great-grandchildren, Nadia Moore, Jailyn Jackson, Genesis Jackson, Xavion Diggs, Jada Jackson, Carter Moore, Nevaeh Murry, Leighton Parker, Braylon Moore, Lyric Murry, Serenity Jackson, Theron Jackson Jr, Kyree Jackson, Carlton Cox, Nova Murry, and Caleb Cox (unborn); devoted friends, Susie Cooper, Melvin Boyce, Mike Goines, Barbara Jean Thompson; and a host of relatives and friends. He will also be greatly missed by the residents and staff of Weinberg House, Baltimore, MD.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nolan Bowie, Doris Snowden, Mary Lyles, Arthur Bowie, Reginald Bowie, and Joanne Bowie.
