“Death of Mr. J. A. BACON. // A letter from Dr. [Thomas F.] GREEN states that this young gentleman died in Milledgeville last Friday, and was buried there. He has long been in feeble health. He was the youngest son of Dr. Jno. A. BACON, an esteemed citizen and valued physician of Columbus. He was born January 6th, 1846, and hence was twenty-nine years of age. He has reached a happier world than this.” [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Wednesday, 13 DEC 1876, p. 4.]
This man has a monument here at Linwood cemetery, but there is no entry in the Sexton's record indicating that he was interred, or reinterred, there.
