Gladys M. Archbold, age 90, long time resident of Farwell having moved to Bluff City TN passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 in Bristol, TN.
Gladys was born the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Hayes) Ruby on August 9, 1915 in Fort Wayne, IN. She married John Archbold on February 22, 1942 and he predeceased her on October 28, 2001. Gladys had lived in Farwell for 56 years having recently relocated to her daughter's home in Bluff City, TN. Gladys had been an active member of the Farwell United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, reading and watching and feeding the birds outside her home. Gladys had over the years made countless stuffed animals to be given out by the MidMichigan Medical Center in Clare.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Mary Lothrop of Tennessee; her brother Ray Ruby of Clare; her sister Mary Pursley of California; five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Gladys was predeceased by her son John Charles in 1998.
Service for Gladys took place on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at the Farwell United Methodist Church with Pastor Jane Ellen Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Memorials may be made to the Farwell United Methodist Church, 281 East Ohio Street, Farwell, MI 48622 or to the Pere Marquette District Library, 101 East Fourth Street, Clare, MI 48617.
